Samenvatting

In the 1980s important changes were introduced into public health services in the Netherlands. New organizational schemes were put into effect to promote patient-oriented care. A literature review shows that up to now, most researchers see this as a brand new development supported by strong group cohesion & motivated by active professional management. However, it can be shown that patient-oriented care is nothing new & that management has little control over the way doctors & nurses treat patients. Management's position, however, may become consolidated in the near future. 57 References. Adapted from the source document as translated by M. Meeks.
