Compares 4 university summer school programs for international students of social science: (1) Ann Arbor, MI; (2) Colchester, UK; (3) Budapest, Hungary; & (4) Oslo, Norway. The first 3 schools focus more on quantitative analytical methods, while Oslo is oriented more toward content. Ann Arbor & Colchester have very similar programs. The Budapest program has more of an orientation toward Eastern European affairs. All programs boast a high degree of participation by foreign students. Summer schools are enjoying increasing popularity, perhaps due to the chances they offer for students to make international contacts.
