Samenvatting

An alternative interpretation of the reduction in the number of small, autonomous women's groups during the 1980s in Belgium. While the proliferation of women's groups in the 1970s firmly established the feminist movement in Belgium, the consolidation of many groups into larger political & patriarchal coalitions reflected feminist strategy to access resources normally not available to small, independent groups. This interpretation is informed by an analysis of the neocorporatist features of Belgian political processes, the dynamics of political opportunity structures, & their implications for resource mobilization. 1 Figure, 83 References.
