Samenvatting

A content analysis of articles on social inequality appearing in Sociologische Gids since its inception in 1953. A paradigm of social stratification emerged very early that contributed to an accumulation of knowledge & a series of research questions & paradigms concerning the relationship of education & the labor market to intergenerational mobility. Key issues related to social inequality in the Netherlands have included ethnic inequality, poverty, gender differences, & unemployment. Inequality & social problems research could profit by considering each other's methodological approaches in relating their investigations to major social changes in the Netherlands & their connections to the outside world.
