Samenvatting

Secondary analysis of data initially collected in a study of the effectiveness of adaptive learning on mathematics instruction in secondary education in the Netherlands reveals that subgroups & classes can serve as social resources for cognitive & affective learning achievements. Results demonstrate that cognitive & affective learning in mathematics depends on individual characteristics, while cognitive achievement depends on class characteristics, & affective achievement depends on both class & subgroup characteristics. 5 Tables, 2 Figures, 45 References.
