1994 election data

Samenvatting

To investigate the extent to which changes in family life patterns among the native-born residents of 82 neighborhoods in Amsterdam, Netherlands, & the arrival of ethnic minorities can be correlated with support for the extreme political Right, 1994 election data for local councils were analyzed. Results showed that support for extreme right-wing parties correlated highly with the % of married couples in the neighborhood, & to a lesser extent with the % of minority residents & the degree to which the number of Islamic immigrants (Turks & Moroccans) surpassed the number of blacks from Surinam & the Netherlands Antilles. On the neighborhood level, these three variables were able to account for 72% of the variance in the support for the extreme Right. 1 Figure, 14 References. Adapted from the source document.
