I will address ‘Challenges and Promise of Liturgical Musical Ethnography’ from the perspective of ten years of research which focused on music in the worship of a predominantly African American Catholic community on the east side of San Francisco, California, Our Lady of Lourdes, affectionately known as Lourdes.
