Abstract

In 1995 the interuniversitary Liturgical Institute (Tilburg) initiated and started a national research program in liturgical studies, which ended in the year 2000. The second, and new national research program for the period 2001-2005 continues the earlier program in its perspective on ‘liturgical movements’ in past and present. It has, however, a different theme: ‘Persons and patterns’. This article presents the new program, which is intended as a platform for research in progress and planned projects in the broad field of liturgical studies in the Dutch (Flemish) language cultural area. First the ‘place’ of the program is determined by sketching the framework of the Liturgical Institute and the position of Dutch liturgical studies. Subsequently the program is described by discussing several elements of ‘liturgical movements’ and the theme ‘persons and patterns’. The third, and final part lists and describes the participating projects.
