Samenvatting

A Conversation with Joop Goudsblom: From Local to Cosmic. Joop Goudsblom, who is considered to be the conscience of the Amsterdam Sociological Journal (AST), discusses his life and work throughout the years. As a young man, he published numerous articles, but later became totally absorbed in sociology. He describes his position towards the AST and the decline of sociology in general. Furthermore, he elaborates on his role models in the field of precision, systematics, scope, and relevance. Throughout the years, he has learned to perceive evolution from a much broader perspective and as part of a long process. As a conclusion, Goudsblom states that present-day society necessitates the continuation of sociology as a science. A. Michaux
