Reaction to Ruud Stokvis' "Fitness". Critically evaluates Ruud Stokvis's analysis that the growing number of people practicing fitness in The Netherlands results from the ever increasing importance of being slim, without further researching the abundance of literature about gender studies and the difference in slimness perception between men and women. Stokvis, however, merely wanted to argue that fitness was brought about by obesity and the quest for slimness, which affects both men and women. Stokvis responds to Aalten's comments. 6 References.
