Samenvatting

Equality among the Antiglobalists: Through the Trees in the Statistical Forest. In a critique of Nico Wilterdink's "Mondialisering en de mondiale welvaartskloof: trends in inkomensverschillen in de wereld, 1950-1998" ([Globalization and the Global Welfare Gap: Trends in Income Disparities in the World, 1950-1998]2002), it is noted that "globalization" as a term is one whose meaning depends on the speaker. Globalization is best understood as a new stage in the development of capitalism, following the postwar "golden years of capitalism," and takes place against a backdrop of the rise of supply-side economics and the "third way" and the collapse of the Soviet model. Neoliberal globalization at present represents less economic growth and increased economic disparity. The internationalization of capital, trade, and commerce has not led to the benefits promised by globalization proponents. 29 References. A. Siegel
