Samenvatting

Global Entaglements and the World of States. Distinctions between two usages of the term globalization are examined. In one current usage, globalization refers to the increasing importance of global economic, financial, environmental, and cultural entanglements and interdependencies and their impact on reducing the autonomy and viability of states. However, in another usage, globalization refers to the increasing role of multilateral and bilateral cooperation between states, particularly within the framework of the UN. The compatibility of these two uses of the term, their relationship, and the prospect of world order through globalization are discussed. 19 References. Adapted from the source document.
