Strategy and Structure of Multinationals. The tendency of multinational entities to acquire the characteristics of transnational entities is examined. Economic development of Eastern Asia and increasing competitiveness between economic enterprises has forced reassessment of the relationship between country organizations and product divisions, and resulted in strategic and structural changes, including: (1) increased autonomy of operating units and integration by regional management; (2) increased use of informatization devices to enable management to monitor complex network interactions; and (3) increased national government dependence on multinationals.
