Nobility in the Netherlands. Notes on Recent Developments. In the Netherlands, currently, a new law is under consideration that will restrict new ennoblements to members of foreign noble families or untitled branches of artistocratic Dutch families. Since 1945, only 25 commoners have achieved noble status. A historical sketch of this policy is presented.
