The Rhetoric of Feminism: The Gilligan Debate Revisited. A rhetorical analysis is presented of feminist debates on gender, care, and morality following Carol Gilligan's In a Different Voice: Psychological Theory and Women's Development (Cambridge: Harvard U Press, 1982). A literature review is employed to analyze the arguments of her critics, showing how the controversies can be simultaneously popular, reptitious, and even counterproductive. Suggestions are offered for a different type of feminist rhetoric to avoid the problems of the current debate. 51 References. Adapted from the source document.
