Samenvatting

The Demise of Sexual Innocence. Based on a review of the literature, a sociohistorical perspective is presented on the sexual revolution of the 1960s, emphasizing the importance of romantic love in sexual liberation. Sexual innocence decreased as a result of the increasing explicitness of sexual knowledge, and modern sexuality has gradually acquired a more public character while remaining an essentially private concern. The increasing consciousness of the more aggressive and harmful aspects of sexuality is noted, and it is concluded that, although the revolution started to domesticate and civilize sexuality, sexuality is not now liberated. 30 References.
