Diseases of the Revolution. Venereal Diseases in the Netherlands since 1960. An examination of recent venereal disease statistics illustrates changes in behavior in the Netherlands after the sexual revolution of the 1960s. Special attention is given to teenagers, male homosexuals, foreigners, and sex ratio. A marked shift can be seen in both the type of diseases and their victims since the 1960s. The growth in the number of patients and the number of new diseases did not receive much attention until the 1980s, with the spread of AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). 3 Photographs.
