Man of geen man. Een historiografie van homoseksualiteit

Samenvatting

A man or not a man? A historiography of male homosexuality. We think of homosexuality as a definitive social form, but history and anthropology attest of other social forms. Three main forms are discussed. In Greek pederasty and Melanesian male initiation, homosexual relations are based on age-difference. In Latin-American gender-systems, homosexual relations are based on gender-difference, such as the passive, feminine bicha and the active, masculine macho in Brasil. Modern homosexual relations suppose equality in age and gender-role. In research attention has to be paid to the different realities and perceptions of homosexual arrangements. Some suggestions for further research are indicated in the conclusions.
