Abstract

Holiday images. Reflections on class and leisure. In the twentieth century there is an increasing tendency for class conflicts to be acted out in metaphorical forms. In some ways the topics of comic postcards, based on a working-class tradition of a hedonistic view of holidays, can be seen as attacks on a dominant culture, ridiculing its basic values and moral ideas.
