EEN PROEFOPGRAVING OP HET TERREIN VAN DE VOORMALIGE HAVEZATE ENTINGE TE DWINGELOO (DR.)
Samenvatting
In April 1989 a reconnaissance excavation was carried out at Dwingeloo (prov. of Drenthe). The main goal was to establish the presence of traces of the mansion Entinge on a piece of land surrounded by a moat. As no plans or pictures of the buildings were available a grid of trial trenches was dug and a solid foundation was excavated at the south-east side. In the northern and western part, traces of old moats or ditches were found. At the centre, huge boulders and loam layers suggest that there had been a building. The other foundation trenches and patches of rubble do not give us a real clue to the reconstruction of the mansion as a whole. The only solid foundations, made of brick, were part of the gatehouse with adjacent drain.
