Samenvatting

From 18-22 May 1989 a small excavation was carried out on a levelled part of the terp Eenumerhoogte in the province of Groningen. Finds of potsherds from the first centuries AD, a Roman denarius of Diva Faustina I minted at Rome between 141- 145 AD and some closely-set posts prompted an investigation. The excavated (refuse) pits, postholes without any pattern and a wooden well of about 1 m square indicated habitation in this area. A 'Waekelboden'-fragment and a sherd of Anglo-Saxon pottery date the well to the 5th/6th eentury AD. The foundation pit of the well contained sherds of the Roman Iron Age. Apart from these ceramics of the first centuries AD also 'streepband' pottery and potsherds of the older type RW III (and RW I?) of the 4th/3rd century BC were found here and in other parts of the terp.
