Samenvatting

The lower town of Hellenistic Halos (Thessalia, Greece) may have contained 64 housing blocks and 1440 lots for houses. The housing blocks were all of the same width, but had different lengths and were divided into varying numbers of lots. In 1987 and 1989, two lots of housing block 6.4 were investigated. Lot 21 consisted of a large courtyard and a house. The layout of the house was comparable to that on the adjacent lot. Coins from the excavation of lots 21 and 22, support the hypothesis that Halos was abandoned around 260 BC.
