DE ARCHEOLOGIE IN RUILVERKAVELING DE BJIRMEN (FR.)

Samenvatting

A study was made of the planning and practice concerning the protection of archaeological monuments in the land-real­lotment project De Bjirmen (province of Frisia). It was found that although in planning the interests of archaeology were increasingly considered, in practice virtual­ly none of the 250 archaeological sites were left undamaged. Many of the grants for carrying out works came too late for the archaeologists to be able to do anything. It is concluded that more attention should be given to the practical aspects of the protec­tion of archaeological monuments in the field.
