HOUTEN VEENWEGEN IN IERLAND
Samenvatting
In the midland bogs of Ireland, now in exploitation, many wooden trackways have been excavated by the Department of Archaeology UCD. Three of them are discussed here, namely the Neolithic track of Cloonbony, dated to c. 2500 BC, the Bronze Age track Corlea 6, dated to 2259±9 BC, and Iron Age Corlea l, dated to 148 BC. The methods of construction are discussed, and the archaeological and some environmental implications are considered.
