DE BEDREIGING VAN WILDE STAMVORMEN DOOR VAN HEN AFGELEIDE HUISDIEREN
Samenvatting
The article discusses the genetic composition and the origin of flocks of feral geese in the Drentse A/Hoornse Diep valley. The population both includes groups of birds which strongly resemble Greylag and heterogeneous troaps of domesticates of many origins. Such troops include the fertile descendants of hybrids from domesticated geese, Chinese/African geese, Canada geese and Whitefronts. These birds are a potential threat to wild populations of Greylag. However, crossing is limited by the very small radius of action of the members of the feral flocks.
