Samenvatting
An account is given of a short field trip carried out in the island of Sumatra, Southeast Asia. Several sites mentioned in the literature were visited. None of them revealed traces of Homo erectus. The archaiclooking massive stone artifacts, once attributed to Homo erectus, definitely were manufactured by Homo sapiens, after his arrival on Sumatra around 70,000 years ago.
