VOORTGEZET ONDERZOEK OP DE MESOLITHISCHE VINDPLAATS NP-3 (GRONINGER VEENKOLONIËN)
Samenvatting
In 1992 further investigations were made in the periphery of the most extensive Mesolithic site of the northern Netherlands, situated on a coversand ridge in a former peat reclamation district. This time very detailed sieving was done to outline the concentrations of flint waste, of charred hazelnut shells and of hearth-pits, in order to research the possibility of a relationship in time and space between the various activities at the edge of the occupation site. Moreover, for the first time thin sections were made of the fill of hearth-pits, to investigate the ancient way of dealing with an abandoned hearth of the 'shaft' type.
