Samenvatting
The author suggests a programme of archaeological research in the village territory of Balloo, municipality of Rolde (Drenthe). It comprises (a) localization of the Drostenkuil, a presumed open-air meeting place of the ancient court of justice of Drenthe, the Etstoel, (b) examination of the sites of some 60 destroyed barrows belonging to a large cemetery described by Picardt, Reuvens and Janssen, and (c) exploration of the site of a large farm, which in the medieval period was owned by the bishop of Utrecht.
