POTTEN EN BOTTEN: OFFERGEBRUIKEN IN MIDDEN-ITALIË
Samenvatting
A stud y was made of the ceramics and faunal remains from a votive deposit in Borgo de Ferriere (Latium, Italy). This deposit belongs to the sanctuary of a female deity. The material studied dates from c. 500 BC - c. 200 BC. Various types of ceramics had been offered together with pieces of meat. Among the sacrificed animals, sheep (/goat), cattle and pig were the most important. At least some of the sacrifices were combined offerings of sheep, pig and cattle. This combination suggests a suovetaurilia, an offering normally made to Mars.
