Samenvatting

The preliminary results of two pilot studies on archaeological mite faunas from Spain and Greece are presented. It is concluded that the methods developed in northwestern Europe are also applicable in a Mediterra­nean context. Attention is drawn to the possibility of (sub)recent contamination by burrowing mites living in this region.
