HET MIDDEN-PALEOLITHICUM VAN NOORD-NEDERLAND
Samenvatting
In recent years there has been increasing interest in the Middle Palaeolithic. Amateur archaeologists of the northern Netherlands are becoming more and more capable of recognizing these often severely patinated and frost-split pieces. In the northern Netherlands this has resulted in the discovery of more than one hundred artefacts; flakes, cores and different kinds of tools. In addition several hand-axes were found which probably can be attributed to the Moustérien de tradition Acheuléen, type A. A very interesting recent find is a leaf point of the 'Mauern' type which can be dated to the Middle Pleniglacial of the Weichsel glaciation. The two authors have decided to catalogue and describe these finds. Emphasis will be placed on their spatial distribution (also at site level) in relation to their geological context. Pseudo-artefacts and incerto-facts will not be discussed.
