EEN STEENHUIS TE MIDWOLDA (OLDAMBT, GR.)

Samenvatting

Field surveys in the eastern part of the province of Groningen have so far revealed 41 certain and possible sites of tower houses. This number exceeds earlier expectations. In the autumn of 1994 a tower house site was excavated in the village of Midwolda. It had a ground plan of 8 X 10 m and was surrounded by a ditch. The ceramic finds comprised the so-called 'Kugeltopf'-­pottery.
