Samenvatting

In the terp Westerhuis, north of the river Reit­diep in the province of Groningen, a small fig­ural bronze was discovered and published in 1964 as a representation of the Egyptian-Roman goddess Isis. Atmost thirty years later, an iden­tical statuette was found on the same terp. The type of the statuettes, female, nude and with a protuberance on top of the head, is not met with in Roman iconography. Also the flat base on which the figurines stand is rather uncommon for Roman bronze statuettes. Therefore it is proposed that the statuettes are not Roman but in fact 19th-century products.
