Samenvatting
Two artistic representations of human figures engraved in stones are known from sites in the Netherlands. These are the 'Dancer of Geldrop' (female; max. diameter c. 7.4 cm) and the 'Dancer of Wanssum' (male; max. diameter c. 3.8 cm), both supposedly dating from the Late Palaeolithic. In our opinion, there are reasons to doubt their authenticity, though faking cannot be definitely proved.
