MINNEMASTRAAT, LEEUWARDEN (FR.): DE STADSTERP NIJEHOVE-ZUID
Samenvatting
The site of the Minnemahuis at Leeuwarden was excavated. This town mansion of around 1400 was demolished only in 1960; the excavation focused mainly on the dating of the terp it stood on. This easterly extension of the town terp Nijehove-Zuid can be dated provisionally to AD 1000; an area had been cleared for the mansion and courtyard of the Minnema family, which owned many plots in the town centre. No evidence of artisan activities was recovered.
