NEDERZETTINGEN EN LANDSCHAP IN HET STROOMGEBIED VAN DE ASTURA, ZUID-LATIUM, ITALIË
Samenvatting
Part of my doctoral thesis reported on an archaeological survey near the protohistoric settlement at Satricum (Lazio, Central Italy). The subject was the injfuence of the Astura river on settlement patterns. The survey revealed two different types of sherd concentrations. Small discrete scatters dating from the 6th century BC and very extensive scatters with variations in density dating from the 5th and 4th century BC. These results show a shift in the rural settlement pattern that can be related to the disintegration of the 6th century BC archaic settlement structures due to political unrest and the subsequent colonization of the area in the early Roman Republic.
