Analysis of more than 500 radiocarbon dales for European logboats suggests that the logboat was introduced in northwest continental Europe, and spread only gradually, and in same cases sur­prisingly slowly, over the rest of Europe. lt is likely that the logboat had to compete with skin- ­and barkboats.
