Samenvatting
The so-called Toalean culture is mostly found in caves in the limestone area of Maras, South-Sulawesi, Indonesia. This paper gives a summary of the past archaeological exploration of this area, which probably started in the thirties, with personalities like Van Stein Callenfels and Van Heekeren. It also briefly considers same modern points of view concerning the enigmatic Toalean.
