EEN GEZIN MET DRIE VUURSTEENBEWERKERS: DE REFITTING-ANALYSE VAN OLDEHOLTWOLDE (FR.)
Samenvatting
To a certain extent, refitting analysis may enable us to identify individual flint knappers, on the basis of differences in level of skill. The first author performed a refitting analysis of the flint material from the Hamburgian site at Oldeholtwolde. lt seems probable that three different knappers were active here. Most of the flint knapping was done by an expert knapper: probably an adult man. A completely unskilled knapper worked several cores without producing any usable blades: probably a young boy. A third knapper was moderately skilled and may be considered an advanced larner: probably an older boy. The man and the older boy removed used-up cores to spots outside the central activity area around the hearth; the young boy, however, left his core at the spot were he worked it, near the hearth.
