MEESTERS EN LEERLINGEN IN HET BEWERKEN VAN VUURSTEEN; DE REFITTING-ANALYSE VAN GRAMSBERGEN (OV.) UIT HET LAAT-AHRENSBURGIEN

Samenvatting

Some results af the refitting analys is of the flint material from the Late Ahrensburgian site of Gramsbergen are described. To one core, 32 other artefacts could be refitted, including a Grossklinge. At least two flint knappers were active at Gramsbergen: a master and a no­vice; they were seated about 1 m apart during at least one flint-knapping session. A similar situ­ation could be reconstructed at the Hamburgian site of Oldeholtwolde. It is hypothesised that both sites were family encampments, where fathers in­structed their sons in the art of flint knapping.
