Samenvatting

In December 1987 two urns were excavated next to a levelled Middle Bronze Age burial mound, near Borger. Only recently the contents of the urns were examined. Urn 1 contained calcined bones, largely of the fore paws of a large dog, the unburnt fragments of a bronze bracelet, and of a sewing needle. Urn 2 contained cremated bones of a child and of a dog, and a burnt decorated bone toggle, made of a sheep radius. This kind of toggle was already known from Late Neolithic to Middle Bronze Age contexts in Great Britain and the Netherlands. The 14C dates place the urns at the end of the Middle Bronze Age.
