Samenvatting

In September 2000 a large-scale excavation was carried out in the vicinity of Leek (province of Groningen). In one of the trenches a concentration of flint artefacts was discovered, probably dating from the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. In addition to scrapers, retouched pieces and other tools, a probable strike-a-light was also found. The tool may be considered a preform of a point, the tip part of which has become rounded. There are several indications to suggest that the production of fire was largely a male activity during this period.
