Samenvatting

In 1993 a large cesspit (dated c. AD 1500–1550) was discovered during the excavation of the medieval city wall on the east side of the Singelstraat in Groningen. It most probably belonged to the former Latin School, until 1570 situated on the other side of the same street. The archeobotanical content of this cesspit is compared with a ‘normal’ cesspit of the same period. Although the finds in these cesspits differ a lot, there is no great difference in terms of food plants.
