Archeologisch spoorzoeken in het gebied rondom ‘De Bloemert’: een waarderend onderzoek bij Noordlaren (Gr.) en Midlaren (Dr.)

Samenvatting

After completion of the large-scale excavations at Midlaren-‘De Bloemert’, some questions remained for future research. First of all, it was unclear where the northern edge of the settled area was to be located. Secondly, the location of the burial ground belonging to this settlement was still unknown. And finally, we had no clear picture of the structure of the surroundings fields. To obtain a better understanding of the layout of the archaeological landscape around ‘De Bloemert’, some trial trenches were dug in the fields bordering the excavated area. The results of the fieldwork exceeded expectation. Besides the northern edge of the settlement at ‘De Bloemert’, a new settlement site from the Roman period, a small cemetery from the 5th and 6th centuries (inhumation and cremation graves) and an unusually large farmhouse from the Carolingian period were discovered.
