De veldverkenning SIBA2004-5 rond Francavilla Marittima (Calabrië, Italië): eerste resultaten

The field survey SIBA2004-5 around Francavilla Marittima (Calabria, Italy): first results. This article provides a preliminary report on the fieldwork conducted in the autumns of 2004 and 2005 in Northern Calabria by GIA teams directed by the authors. Systematic intensive field surveys on the foothills around the town of Francavilla Marittima have yielded a fairly complete protohistoric-to-Roman settlement history for this landscape zone, providing a context to the important GIA excavations of the temple complex Timpone della Motta. Geo-archaeological studies both of individual sites and of the landscape as a whole have been started, and will provide direction to research in coming years.
