Experimenteel onderzoek naar vroeg-neolithische brede wiggen als houtbewerkingsgereedschap

Samenvatting

Experimental research of Early Neolithic wide wedges as woodworking tools. Not much is known about the function of the perforated adzes dating from the Early Neolithic (5000-4000 BC), recovered in the northwest of Europe. In recent years, a number of functions have been proposed, such as axes or adzes, wedges, weapons, or artefacts relating to status or a ceremonial function. For the first time, experimental research is carried out to discover a possible function of the wedges. The authors believe that the wedges may be multifunctional woodworking tools and have carried out experiments to test this hypothesis.
