De vroege correspondentie (1912-1924) van A.E. van Giffen
Samenvatting
The early correspondence (1912-1924) of A.E. van Giffen. Van Giffen’s correspondence shows that after the Leiden conflict and his return to Groningen in 1917, he continued to oppose the dominant position of the National Museum of Antiquities. He managed to create an important archaeological institute to rival it and strove to extend his northern excavation territory to the rest of the Netherlands. The letters also provide glimpses of his personal life.
