Gasselte boerderijen: migratie van zand naar klei
Samenvatting
Gasselte-type farmhouses: spreading from sand to clay. In Dutch archaeology, house plans of the Gasselte type are traditionally regarded as a house type indigenous to the higher sandy areas of Drenthe. Nevertheless, in recent decades several excavations in the transitional areas from sand to clay and the northern salt-marsh area of the Netherlands have also yielded house plans of the Gasselte type. Given the earlier dates for the Gasselte-type houses in Drenthe, it appears that this building tradition spread from the sandy soils of Drenthe into the marine-clay landscapes of the north.
