Palynologisch onderzoek van enkele Drentse hunebedden

Samenvatting

Palynological investigation of some hunebedden in Drenthe. Palynological analysis of samples were taken during re-excavations of megalithic tombs. Earlier research had dealt only with old surface layers underlying the original barrow. This article presents data of younger phases present in some of these barrows, showing a further development of the vegetation in the near surroundings. Palynological and archaeological datings correspond fairly well. However, several samples from the degraded remains of the megalithic grave barrows show contamination with younger material. The idea that megalithic barrows were situated within or at the edge of open woodland was confirmed.
