Celtic fields in Brabant: wat stuifmeel en zaden kunnen vertellen

Samenvatting

Celtic fields in Noord-Brabant: what pollen and seeds can tell. Seed samples and pollen samples were recovered from the Celtic field site of Someren – De Hoenderboom, in excavations carried out between 2012 and 2014. This contribution focusses on three sets of palynological samples. Each set consists of a sample deriving from a probable ard mark and a ‘control sample’ taken directly next to it. Anthropogenic indicators, such as cereal pollen and ribwort plantain, were present in all samples. The difference between the two types of sample is tentatively interpreted as pointing to alternating use of the fields for cultivation and grazing.
